Local bounded cochain projections

We construct projections from HΛk(Ω), the space of differential k forms on Ω which belong to L2(Ω) and whose exterior derivative also belongs to L2(Ω), to finite dimensional subspaces of HΛk(Ω) consisting of piecewise polynomial differential forms defined on a simplicial mesh of Ω. Thus, their definition requires less smoothness than assumed for the definition of the canonical interpolants base...

Commuting projections on graphs

Motivated by the increasing importance of large-‐scale networks typically modeled by graphs we study properties associated with the popular graph Laplacian. We exploit its mixed formulation based on its natural factorization as product of two operators. The goal is to construct a coarse version of the mixed form for the graph Laplacian operator with the purpose to construct a multilevel hierar...

Commuting multiparty quantum observables and local compatibility

A formula for the commutator of tensor product matrices is used to shows that, for qubits, compatibility of quantum multiparty observables almost never implies local compatibility at each site and to predict when this happens/does not happen in a concise manner. In particular, it is shown that two “fully nontrivial” n-qubit observables are compatible locally and globally if and only if they are...

COMMUTING , MIGRATION AND LOCAL EMPLOYMENT ELASTICITIES Ferdinando

Many changes in the economic environment are local, including policy changes and infrastructure investments. The effect of these changes depends crucially on the ability of factors to move in response. Therefore a key object of interest for policy evaluation and design is the elasticity of local employment to these changes in the economic environment. We develop a quantitative general equilibri...
